How do I get to Poseidon?

By Plane: If you fly the nearest airport is Phuket. From there it's about 70 km to Khao Lak and Poseidon Bungalows. A taxi at the airport would cost between 1200 and 1600 Baht to Khao Lak. It’s possible but difficult to take a bus from the airport. You have to get down to the main road, about 3 km from the airport and from there take a bus going north towards Takua Pa, Ranong or Suratthani.

If you let us know we can arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport – that cuts out hustle with the taxi drivers who do not always know how to get here / want to! It is also cheaper!

Flights are a bargain now with many and cheap alternatives. At time of writing you can fly Thai Airways, Nok Air, Air Asia, Bangkok Airways... Prices vary from less than 1000 baht to 2500 one way but they are all safe. For links to the webpages see links!

By Bus: If going by bus from Bangkok go to the Southern Bus-terminal (Sai Tai) and get a Khao Lak bus. Tell the conductor that you are going to Thap Lamu. That is 5 km after the resort area of Khao Lak. Air con buses in Thailand are a great bargain, the 800 km journey takes about 10 hours and cost less than 500 Baht. Price depends a bit on standard of bus and they only run over night, leaving Bangkok early evening and getting here far to early in the morning! Avoid buying a ticket from an travel agent in Bangkok as they will put you on a bus that goes to Surat and you have to change buses there! There have also been a problem of theft on these, illegal, buses.... Buy your ticket at the official bus station!

From Lam Kaen / Thap Lamu you can get a motorcycle taxi to Poseidon for 80 Baht.

By Train: It is also possible to take the train from Bangkok to Suratthani and then bus from there, but it takes a lot longer time than bus straight here. If going by train you have to spend four hours on a bus (Phuket bus) to get here from Surat. My advice: If you have the money but not the time; fly. If you have time but not enough money; take the bus. If you have neither you are out of luck!

From Phuket take bus from the bus station in town; buses towards Takua Pa, Suratthani and Ranong all pass by here. Tell them you want to get of at Lam Kaen or at the Poseidon sign, just after km 802 to Bangkok - signs every km. It is about 100 km and cost 100 Baht.

From Krabi the best way is to get the mini bus that leaves every day for Khao Lak. All travel agents sell tickets and if you tell them you are going to Poseidon they will drive you straight here! About 400 baht, takes two hours.

This all sounds and looks a lot more difficult than it is, if you look on the map and see where we are it is a lot easier!

If you have any problem – give us a ring!
